Description: Latest Future Land Use after corrections clarifcations and documention are as follows:- Summary and findings leading to changes-As per the SC Code title 6, Chapter 29- South Carolina Legislature, the Comprehensive Plan is re-evaluated every five years and updated every 10 years to reflect the values of the community. In 2010, a review was conducted by planning staff which resulted in the adoption of Ordinance 03-2010/11 to amend the Florence County Comprehensive Land Use Element to change the designated Land Use Element from Residential and/or Variable Residential to Suburban Development for 215 parcels. While editing the feature class in the GIS map to make these changes, a planning staff member unintentionally changed all parcels designated as Variable Residential to Suburban Development.To rectify the error, the Florence County GIS Department was asked to make the correction and reinstate the Variable Residential to be in compliance with the Comprehensive Plan as approved. The correction was made on 8/2/2022 and is currently showing on the website.- Email from Planning Director to process changes dated Tue 8/2/2022 3:23 PM -Mrs. Hoge:Recently we discovered a concern with the online maps. The online maps do not display the Variable Residential districts as shown in the adopted Comprehensive Plan. Upon alerting the GIS team, they discovered that some changes were made by Scott Parks several years ago. Mr. Parks was able to manipulate the layer. While some of the areas were to be changed, his work resulted in changing all Variable Residential districts to Suburban Development districts. The GIS team found supporting documents authoring Mr. Parks to change a fraction of the Variable Residential district properties, but not all. On July 28, 2022, GIS created an image/map displaying what the map should have looked like w/out the unauthorized removal of all Variable Residential districts. This allowed Planning to compare the modification to the Comprehensive Plan. It is our opinion that the modifications GIS presented meets the Comprehensive Plan. While there is a disclaimer on the website maps, it is imperative that we publish information that is accurate to the best of our ability. Therefore, I ask that GIS correct the online maps to reflect the images presented to us July 28, 2022. Finally, this correction should take effect immediately to ensure the website maps meets the adopted ordinance. Thanks,J.
